Services for Young People invites you to an event on 16th October 2014 to launch the new
Local Prevention commission. If you are interested in bidding for Local Prevention funding
then please attend this event, where SCC will explain the new model and talk you through
the procurement process, as well as providing opportunities for you to ask any questions
you may have.
In July 2014 the commissioning team published a proposed model for 2015 to 2020 and
asked staff, partners and stakeholders for their feedback. During August SCC reviewed this
feedback and have made changes to the model in response to what was said.
Local Prevention, as part of this model, will deliver targeted, preventative activities that
build the resilience of young people in local communities, in support of Surrey’s Early Help
Strategy. Early help means intervening as soon as a need arises, leading to improved
outcomes for young people and reducing demand on statutory services in the future.
50% of local prevention funding will support neighbourhood projects with groups of at risk young
people, whilst the other 50% will fund targeted one-to-one early help for individual young
people, referred through Surrey’s early help process.
Please email Beth Lackenby (firstname.lastname@example.org) to reserve your place at the event.
