Job Title:   Designated Safeguarding Lead
Location:   Offices New Haw, Surrey & working across the county
Hours: 16 per week, minimum of 3 days per week
Length of Contract:   Temporary 6 months
Rate of pay: £14,000 (FTE £33,000)
Responsible to:  Chief Operating Officer
Holiday Entitlement: 25 days, plus Bank Holidays
Pension: Workplace Pension Plan

Main purpose of Job
The Designated Safeguarding Lead will be responsible for providing effective leadership and management with a clear sense of direction and purpose that assists the Charity to deliver its safeguarding strategy, policies and procedures to promote and protect the welfare of children.


Delivery of the Safeguarding Strategy
• Ensuring compliance on current legislation and any changes in statutory legislative changes which may impact on the Charity
• Reviewing the Eikon Safeguarding policies, procedures and guidelines, providing policy updates for the Charity
• Developing and monitoring quality assurance processes, ensuring that the Charity continually improves its safeguarding processes
• Supporting the operation of the Charity with new initiatives, projects and events which have safeguarding implications
• Ensuring that a continuous improvement approach is adopted with any safeguarding incident
• Producing regular monitoring reports
• Ensuring safeguarding is prioritised within the Charity, demonstrating best practice and achievement against national standards
• Working with operational managers to ensure they are competent in managing safeguarding incidents

Delivery of Safeguarding Practice
• Maintaining links with and liaising with key external safeguarding contacts
• Managing and leading the team to effectively implement the safeguarding strategy
• Effectively manage any safeguarding incidents and concerns
• Undertaking regular safeguarding case supervision– 1:1 and group reviews
• Providing vision and leadership for Eikon’s safeguarding practice
• Retaining oversight for the safeguarding practice for all services that Eikon provides
• Providing advice, guidance and accountability to practitioners
• Monitoring and evaluating consistency of Safeguarding practice across the organisation
• Demonstrating best practise in safeguarding, inspiring safeguarding officers and ensuring Eikon continues to aspire to deliver a ‘best-in-class’ service to all beneficiaries
• Leading the Safeguarding Team

Expertise in Safeguarding
• Providing regular safeguarding training as part of the Charity’s Training and Development program
• Providing expertise and being the ‘go to’ person within the organisation
• Demonstrating a genuine enthusiasm and passion for Safeguarding best practise
• Demonstrating a deep understanding of the safeguarding landscape County wide and Nationally
